HOW TO WRITE A PAGE-TURNER
With Christine Wells
Learn how to pace your novel so that readers won’t want to put it down.
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced writer who needs to fine-tune your technique, this 6-hour interactive workshop will help you pace your novel like a pro. From devising a compelling story question to creating micro-tension on every page, you will have the tools to keep your readers on the edge of their seats.
You will improve your writing skill-set through practical exercises and group discussions in the key areas listed below:
Create compelling story questions and hooks.
Understand that different genres require different pacing and that pacing will vary within a novel.
Techniques to slow down or speed up pace.
Leaving out the boring bits—conveying backstory, logistics and exposition without halting the story momentum.
Examine each page for conflict and tension and ratchet it higher.
Understand structure and the role it plays in pacing.
This is a craft workshop for all writers. More information on program formats and level definitions can be found here.
