Introduction to Podcasting with Craig Garrett
Learn the basics of telling a story through podcasting. This workshop will cover scripting, contacting potential interviewees, permissions, recording, microphone usage, editing, noise reduction and fades. Participants will record, edit and ‘publish’ a short podcast.
NOTE: Participants will need to bring their own laptop, a recording program (Audacity is free to download) and a recording device (options include free smartphone apps such as TW Recorder, or devices such as Zoom, Tascam, Olympus and Phillips).

About Craig Garrett
Craig Garrett is a Brisbane-based sound producer, writer and award-winning journalist. His show Brisbane Line won the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA) Excellence in News & Current Affairs Programming award (2017). He’s produced documentaries for the CBAA, 4ZZZ, House Conspiracy, Queensland Poetry Festival, the Kat Muscat Fellowship and Vulcana Women’s Circus.
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Unless otherwise stated, QWC workshops and events are suitable for participants aged 16 years and over. If you are under 18 years of age, please check with us for suitability before purchasing a ticket.

What can I bring into the event?
You can bring either pen and paper or a laptop along with you to write with. If you do bring a laptop, please remember to bring a power adaptor if necessary.

What’s the refund policy?
If Queensland Writers Centre cancels an event, we will try to reschedule it for a later date. If we cannot reschedule the event, or if you are unable to attend on the amended date, your payment will be refunded in full.
