Pathways to Publishing – three part course with QWC
TIME / DATES: 6 – 8pm, Wednesdays 1,8 and 15 November 2017
Whether working with a trade publisher or going it alone, focusing on print or digital media, navigating the world of contemporary publishing can be daunting for new and emerging writers. Following the unique journeys of three successful Queensland authors, this course explores the essential knowledge writers need to confidently engage with traditional and self-publishing industries. Give yourself a great opportunity to find your audience.
The course will be divided into three weeks. Week one will cover trade or ‘traditional’ publishing, week two will cover independent or self-publishing, and the final week will cover how writers build a career by using skills from both these approaches to publication.
Each session will feature practical, general information and will also feature a Queensland author with experience in that type of publishing, and include video interviews with these authors sharing their journey and offering advice and the story of how they built a successful career.
Before each session QWC will be sharing relevant videos online that you can watch prior. At each lesson QWC will be distributing handouts that you can refer to afterwards.
