Whether it’s a true or made-up story, memoir or creative non-fiction, if you have a book-length story you’re keen to tell, this course will help you write that book. This is a great opportunity for emerging writers of fiction or non- fiction to complete a first draft with help from five full-day workshops with Veny Armanno. Veny will also provide you with feedback on 10 pages of a work-in-progress.

About Veny Armanno
Venero (Veny) Armanno is the author of two short story collections, Jumping at the Moon and Travel Under Any Star, and nine critically acclaimed novels. These include Black Mountain, The Dirty Beat, Romeo of the Underworld and Candle Life. His novel Firehead was shortlisted in the 1999 Queensland Premier’s Literary Award; in 2002 The Volcano won the award with Best Fiction Book of the year. His works have been published in the United States, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Holland, Israel and South Korea. Veny is a trained screenwriter and currently teaches creative writing at The University of Queensland.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
Unless otherwise stated, Queensland Writers Centre workshops and events are suitable for participants aged 16 years and over. If you are under 18 years of age, please check with us for suitability before purchasing a ticket.

What can I bring into the event?
You can bring either pen and paper or a laptop along with you to write with. If you do bring a laptop, remember to bring a power adaptor.

What’s the refund policy?
If Queensland Writers Centre cancels an event, we will try to reschedule it for a later date. If we cannot reschedule the event, or if you are unable to attend on the amended date, your payment will be refunded in full.
